~~~~~~~~~~ FEEDING INSTRUCTIONS ~~~~~~~~~~
  The puppies are eating, Purina Puppy Chow or Hill's Science diet puppy small bites (Dry Food). In addition to dry food and water, (you can mix a small amount of canned puppy with the dry) continue to moisted food twice a day with a teaspoon of plain yogurt mixed in a small amount of light (clear) Karo syrup on it until the puppy weighs at least 2 pounds and is about (3) months old or it seems to prefer the dry food. DO NOT GIVE MILK! Also put about 1 teaspoon of light Karo syrup in the drinking water. This will provide some extra energy for the puppy and helps stimulate its appetite. Monitor eating and drinking levels closely. Puppies need to eat and drink often to avoid problems with blood sugar (see Hypoglycemia). Have dry food and fresh water available at all times. If you prefer, you can estabish a feeding schedule when puppy is older and you can better determine  his/her needs. Your puppy is baby, which needs proper nutrition and caloric intake to grow proper. Giving "people food" is not recommended and highly discouraged now and as an adult.Puppy/dog foods provides all the nutrition needed. Gerber chicken (meat) baby food can also be given if puppy seems not to be eating well and needs encouragement. karo syrup, Nutri-cal, Nutri-Start or Nutri-Drops can be givendrictly by mouth if puppy seems lazy orletharrgic and seems to need an extra boost. If diarrhea or vomiting occurs call  the veterinarian immediately. It is easy for puppies to get dehydrated.
~~~~Hypoglycemia~~~~
    Hypoglycemia is the scientific name for a conditon where the blood sugar level suddenly drops.It occurs mainly in
toy breeds beween 6 to 12 weeks of age. Hypoglycemia can occur with out warnimg when a pup is placed in a new home, is shipped, misses a meal, becomes chilled or overheated, is exhausted from too much play, has been over handled or has some type of digestive upset. Digestive upset can result from chaging foods suddenly, feeding table scraps or a bacterial infection. In other words some type of stress!
    The frist sign of hyoglycemia are laziness, droopiness, listlessness and depression, musculrar weakness, tremors, staggering and falling over as though they are drunk and convuisions soon follows. They can be observed lying on their side paddling with their front feet as though they are swimming. If any of these sysmptons are observed, you must act quickly in order to your's puppy life.
YOU HAVE TO GET THE BLOOD SUGAR LEVEL UP TO BRING THE PUPPY OUT OF THE SITUATION AND IT MUST BE DONE VERY QUICKLY.
  If your puppy is awake, give he/she Nutri-cal and/or light karo syrup, or sugar water. You must get something into the puppy in order to raise his/hers sugar level. If the puppy will not open his mouth or is unable to lap it up, pry the puppy's month open very carefully and put a small amounts of sweet substance into its month. Its best to have a syringe, but an eyedropper, a straw or even dripping it off a spoon will work. Usually when the puppy gets a taste of the sweet stuff it will start licking its tongue out and will start to recover in a very shot time. You should see improvement with in 15 minutes. If not,
RUSH your puppy to the Vet.
  If your puppy is unconscious or having convisions, do not try to force feed it anything,
rush your puppy to the vet immediately. It will need intravenous fluids. If your puppy experiences episodes of hypoglycemia regularly it is usually a sign that it is not taking in enough food or has an underlying problem thet need medical attention. Take the puppy to the vet for a check up and let him know you are having problems with puppy's blood sugar level.
